I grow naturally in dry, sandy desert conditions and can handle extreme swings in temperature. My trunks are topped with long, sword-like green leaves that droop as they get older, making me look rather tree-like.

How to take

Care of me

50 to 95° F. Keep me away from cold drafts, air conditioning or heating vents, and hot surfaces like radiators.

TEMPERATURE

Let soil dry out between waterings. Avoid waterlogging or allowing plant to sit in water. Water with distilled water or leave tap water sitting out for 24 hours before using to allow chemicals to evaporate.

WATERING

Use a liquid or houseplant fertilizer at half strength. Fertilize me monthly during the spring-summer growing season.

FERTILIZER

If you notice spider mites, mealybugs, or whiteflies, gently wipe them off with a 50/50 mix of soap and water.

POTENTIAL PESTS

You can prune me if I get too tall for your space. Trim off any dead leaves.

PRUNING

I don't mind being pot-bound. You can repot me every 2 or 3 years. If I get too big or heavy to handle, simply refresh my potting soil.

REPOTTING

With just a little care, I'm easy to grow, although I grow slowly. I do best in a sunny spot with low humidity. All I ask is for good drainage and dusting my leaves occasionally.
