Get to Know Me

I'm a status symbol—in Victorian times, people owned me to show off their prosperity. Even better, I'm adaptable and can even do well in medium or low light. I'm small, with dainty 8-inch fronds. I'm also known as a great air purifier.

Care of me

55 to 80° F. Keep me away from cold drafts, AC and heat vents, and hot surfaces like radiators.
TEMPERATURE
Let the top couple inches of soil dry out between waterings. Water with distilled water or leave tap water sitting out for 24 hours before using to allow chemicals to evaporate.
WATERING
Use a liquid or houseplant fertilizer at half strength. Fertilize me every one to two months.
FERTILIZER
If you notice spider mites, mealybugs, or whiteflies, gently wipe them off with a 50/50 mix of soap and water.
POTENTIAL PESTS
Prune off dead leaves.
PRUNING
Repot me when roots poke out through the drainage holes. Choose a new pot that is 2" wider with plenty of drainage holes.
REPOTTING

As a rainforest native, I like my soil to
be constantly moist but not wet, and I love humidity. During the winter, let my soil mostly dry between waterings. Clean my leaves regularly to keep my velvety appearance at its best.

Each one of us is unique, so I might not look exactly like the photograph. Embrace me for who I am! When I arrive, gently remove me from the box and introduce me to my new home. Check to make sure my soil is moist after the journey
